To add colour to this scene, I'd start with the flames: shades of orange and red with yellow highlights will give a real feeling of heat and energy. The aliens could be a deep, sinister blue, and the monsters could have a mix of greens, yellows and oranges for a more heroic look. Add some darker hues around the edges of the page to help it all stand out. As people flee, glimpses of bright colour will add a desperately optimistic note.
